About CityFarmBoy…

I am not a farmer by profession but as a public health nurse I find that my passion for urban agriculture has relevance for my public health work to improve the health of the all communities.  Since 2009, I’ve been involved with the Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands (RBUFW), a partnership between the Friends of  RBUFW, Seattle Tilth and the City of Seattle’s Parks & Recreation Department.  This has been an invaluable experience in building the community in which I live.

I’m not sure where my love for growing things comes from although I attribute this to my Dutch ancestors.  It’s said that if you give a Dutchman a piece of ground he can grow anything in it.  Regardless of my origins all I know is that I regularly need my “dirt time” to cleanse my head, strengthen my heart, and lift my soul.
